Notice Regarding the Grand Sumo Performance (THE GRAND SUMO TOURNAMENT) in London

The event will be held at the Royal Albert Hall in London, UK, from Wednesday, October 15, to Sunday, October 19, 2025. This marks the first Grand Sumo performance in London in 34 years, since 1991, and serves as a valuable opportunity to showcase Japan's traditional culture to the world.

〇Event Highlights
The event will feature matches involving top-division sumo wrestlers over the course of five days. In addition, sacred ceremonies and the historical and cultural significance of sumo will be introduced to audiences in the UK. Spectators will not only enjoy sumo as a sport but also experience the richness of Japanese traditions and spirituality. Furthermore, hosting the event at the historic Royal Albert Hall creates a unique fusion of culture and sports, offering an extraordinary experience.

James Ainscough, OBE, Chief Executive Officer of the Royal Albert Hall, stated:

Additionally, Hakkaku, Chairman of the Japan Sumo Association and champion of the 1991 tournament at the Royal Albert Hall, expressed his delight:

The channel is designed to allow audiences both in Japan and around the world to enjoy sumo in English, built around the three core pillars: "Tournaments," "Wrestlers," and "Tradition." During tournaments, the channel offers dynamic highlights with English commentary for the day's key matches. In addition, it introduces the lives of wrestlers beyond the ring while emphasizing that Grand Sumo is not only a sport but also a sacred ritual and an integral part of Japan's cultural heritage.
